Zamalek Art Gallery continues to offer the latest of distinguished avant-garde artworks by the most inspiring of sculptors, both young and veteran. It is noteworthy that colored sculptures go as far back in history as ancient Egypt, which means that Egyptians are the actual pioneers in this art; they are in fact its initial founder. This is particularly demonstrated in the difference between Egyptian sculptures and their Greek and Roman counterparts, the latter being dominated by one single color, usually that of marble or stone.

In Kamal al-Feky's exhibition, color is the most striking component in the artwork and its powerful presence cannot be overlooked. The dominance of this component allows the artist to tackle a number of topics associated with everyday life and the psychological state of human beings. Al-Feky dexterously employed the multiple layers of human bodies, & composed them in upward and downward motion. This brings to mind, though with a number of differences in both form and content, the works of Italian sculptor and painter Umberto Boccioni, one of the revolutionary pioneers of the Futurism movement. A link can also be traced between Feky's work and the subjects of Colombian painter Fernando Botero, who is known for the exaggerated size of his figures.

Kamal al-Feky is an artist who is exposed to the world's different cultures and while this had undoubtedly influenced his art, he always manages to maintain his own aesthetic uniqueness. This is particularly made clear in his techniques of glossed coloring that makes his sculptures seem coated in a layer of shiny glaze.
