RABAB NEMR

Springing from the depths of the human feeling, Rabab Nemr has forged her path in a world overflowing with color and music. Out of this journey emerges a kind of fusion, whose serenity reach out to all. Deeply embedded in this aura of serenity is a firm and cohesive core as well as a sense of purpose. When people view these works, their hands tend to reach upward to express the intensity of what they are feeling, as if they are embarking, with a far seeing gaze, on an endless voyage of engagement and anticipation.

In fact, the Abstract Movement in all its diverse forms has the same effect on the viewer as that of a thunderbolt whose roaring sound reminds us of the sea pounding against the unyielding rocks. Despite its force, people are struck silent by this reverberation for their silence seems to envelop an inner scream of defiance mixed with surrender, reminiscent of the enigmatic expression of the Sphinx as it nestles below the Pyramids.

Rabab Nemr's works embody the nationalist sentiments of the 1950s which were strongly expressed through the Abstract Movement. This artistic expression reflected the political events of the time, supporting the aspirations of the people as they strove towards a life that was both prosperous and dignified.Rabab Nemr's works embody the nationalist sentiments of the 1950s which were strongly expressed through the Abstract Movement. This artistic expression reflected the political events of the time, supporting the aspirations of the people as they strove towards a life that was both prosperous and dignified.

So vivid are her works, in fact, that they seem to have a musical quality that fills the viewer with wonder and humility. The artist attains a level of mastery and precision which literally takes the viewer's breath away since it is at once vigorous, warm and compelling, reaching hitherto unprecedented dimensions. Such is the pervasive quality of Cubism that it superimposes itself over every other form, moulding colour and movement in a way that is startlingly assertive.

Rabab Nemr draws her inspirational genius from Alexandria with its heady sea breeze that imbues her works with a freshness similar to that of a fisherman's freshly caught batch of fish, symbolizing plenitude and renewal.

The works in this collection are an abstract symphony of color that has an edgy quality in keeping with artistic demands. The style of expression is strongly marked on the subjects, and their respective stances and interplay in order to suffuse the works with the emotional dimensions of compassion and fortitude. The flocks of birds fluttering high above people's heads signal a celebration of human events while palms are clasped tightly together to express the joy of giving. In the background, the rollicking sea crests rise from the depths, adding a glow of contentment to life as if the very sea vessels were bearing our common hopes and dreams.

Rabab Nemr's artworks can be viewed as a shimmering waterfall, showering us with brightly glowing lights that underscore her incredible talent and her contributions to art which are as bounteous as the fisherman's catch.
