Cairo Towers

I'm now sitting in my new studio in the middle of Cairo...Through the window I see the city endlessly flowing with its streets and buildings. Every day I choose another building; and I start imagining what happened to the city and to its people, who keep on inflicting changes, by adding different shapes and colours.

As I sit there and start dreaming, these buildings start to transform into human beings willing to tell hundreds of stories and secrets. A year later, I have collected a number of buildings surrounding me: sitting together and having our talks has become a habit. So I start replacing and reorganizing them in my mind and soon I started to discover that this game has become an obsession. As much fun as it may sound this started leading me to think about deeper issues.

Where is this city taking us? Or maybe where are we taking it... Is there a way to save it? ...What am I trying to show in this exhibition anyway? ... Are these Cairo Towers...and we have to learn to accept them for what they are, or are they a sort of a "Babylon Tower", whose fate we should stop and reconsider a thousand times......
