Art is the means by which I interact with the world and ponder over its mysteries. This is translated into a sensory message that reveals my perception of life and of the universe surrounding us. Largely inspired by nature and imbued with a gender and cultural baggage, my work focuses on elaborating an aesthetic language and on revealing a state of mind rather than scanning a particular subject.
I work directly on canvas or paper without a preconceived idea and once the process of execution starts it progresses almost organically going through a relentless course of exploration, experimentation and investigation. Consequently, this unfolds the mediums' hidden possibilities of generating new meanings and of disclosing underlying layers and structures achieved through subtle manipulation of texture, line and color.
This new body of works is a development of the collection I started some 5 years ago in terms of subject matter, themes and materiality. Along the course of this journey, my work has reached greater complexity, freedom and spontaneity. Ultimately my goal is to contribute, by way of a sustained engagement and dialogue, to the wealth and diversity of local and global artistic sensibilities.
