Zamalek Art Gallery is delighted to present Mostafa Rabie's debut Solo Exhibition
"The Age of Innocence".
Born in Minya, Mostafa Rabie grew up listening to his grandmother's folktales and watching his surroundings in southern Egypt with a keen eye for details. His love for art and drawing started at a young age, but as a teenager he went unto computer programming as his bachelors in college, only to abandon that eventually to pursue his Art full time. Today, he has been featured in many local and international group exhibitions.
Rabie experiments with various mediums, mixing more than one in his works. His earlier works were black & white ink, and with time and confidence he added colour (inks, watercolours and mixed media), and that is when his raw talent began to shine. His tackling of colour and patterns allowed him to further process his ideas and concepts in new and exciting compositions.
Playful settings are made more vibrant with bright contrasting colours, and despite many unlikely pairing of hues, each artwork boasts a surprisingly harmonious palette. Mostafa Rabie has an innate understanding of composition, with an always balanced approach to the various elements in his work. It is this sense of coherence, as well as his drawn excellent attention to detail, that allow the conflicting patterns in his figures’ attire and backgrounds to work so well together.
Sentimentality is the central theme of this exhibition, and all its characters are young regardless of their age. A pure, seemingly simple and jovial ambience reigns in this charming body of artwork.
"The Age of Innocence" is a promising step in Mostafa Rabie's Artistic journey.
