"If I ever forget, remind me of who I am. Remind me why I am alive."
I keep on repeating these words from the lyrics of the French song “If I Ever Forget” - "Si Jamais J'oublie", then the words start flowing, every time. “Remind me of those promises that I made to myself. Remind me of my dreams”.
It is that desire to ignite again the spirit that has been extinguished, in an effort to restore balance, and moments of happiness and clinging to them lest they flee.
Since five years or more, I have been relying on my sense of hearing - everything I hear or listen to, comes out on the surface of paintings in the form of shapes and writings that are often vague, with no specific explanation, yet they fraught with my own feelings.
Recently, I have been listening extensively to both songs "If I Forget" and "On My Street" which reflected what I went through during a period of my life; an attempt, on one hand to restore myself, and on the other to face the shock of reality, moving from an innocent childhood to the roughness of maturity years.
"On My Street" is the story of a young woman who had to go through a life experience that she never thought would be hers. While relating to my own journey full of emotions, and overwhelming anxieties , always trying to overcome my fears, I created a series of paintings to remind myself of who I am... If I ever forget.
